Additional Degrees

From Whitworth University (Spokane, Washington)

1. Concurrent option to earn a Master of Education in Montessori

  • This M.Ed. Montessori degree recognizes the work involved in Montessori training and provides additional coursework to enhance training in the complexities of classroom instruction. Your AMI Diploma will count for 26 credits toward an M.Ed. Three additional online Montessori Surround Courses focusing on working with special populations, social and emotional needs, and classroom management cover the remaining 9 credits.
  • This degree option requires concurrent enrollment in an AMI Diploma program at WMI.
  • Average of 2 year completion time

2. For AMI Diploma Holders

  • Master’s option: If you already have your AMI Montessori Diploma, this program allows you to apply your Montessori knowledge to a master’s degree. Whitworth will waive 8 credits of electives in this program in recognition of your work when earning your AMI Diploma. The remaining 26 credits cover topics such as curriculum development, educational research, technology in the classroom and student assessment. All coursework is available online.
  • Bachelor’s option: AMI diploma holders can work toward completing their BA. Whitworth Online has pre-approved the AMI diploma for 30 semester credits that would count toward any of their bachelor’s degrees.
