Second Timeline of Human Beings

About this workshop

On AMI’s revised Second Timeline, Homo sapiens appear after the great migrations: adapting to ice-age landscapes and land bridges, sewing and sheltering, trading, making music and ritual art, then gradually settling, domesticating plants and animals, and building complex societies—some of which become cities. This workshop for 6–12 educators will orient you to the new material and guidebook: panoramic and vignette storytelling, theme stories (from clay to cereals to metals), and frameworks for discussing civilization that avoid Eurocentric bias. We also situate the timeline beside the Family Tree of Hominins Chart and the First Timeline to keep the sequence coherent.

Perfect for Elementary guides and adults working with Elementary-aged children.
